Marrakesh

Moroccan city located in the south-centre of the country, about 93 miles from the Atlantic Ocean’s coast, it is considered the tourist capital of the country with its thousand-year charm, the colourful markets and the many contrasts brought about by the westernisation.

Focal centre of the city is Jāmiʿel-Fnā square, around which the old Medina develops. During the day the market takes place here: the various tribes come to the souks to sell their handmade objects and the Berber traders bring their products.

Among the historical monuments, the delicately inlaid Saadian tombs stand out (XVI century), and Koutoubia minaret, one of the most beautiful Islamic monuments in North Africa: its tower has different sides, with different colours and it is surrounded by wonderful gardens (XII century).
Also worth visiting are Marrakesh museum, the museum of Moroccan Arts, the Bahia Palace, the Royal Palace and Mellah.
