Sofia

Bulgaria’s capital, third oldest city in Europe, it offers a historical patrimony ranging from Roman and Byzantine until the XX century’s Stalinist and Neoclassical architecture.
In the central district are sheltered the main city monuments: the Orthodox cathedral of Aleksandar Nevski, the church of St. George, dating from the Paleochristian period, and the Russian church of St. Nicholas. A visit to the National History Museum is compulsory for all those interested in the Bulgarian history.

In the historical centre you will find the commercial core of the city, where the main shopping and entertainment areas are gathered. Oborishte district, for instance, offers a wide choice of boutiques, galleries and restaurants.

A walk through Studentski Grad, the street that hosts the majority of the city’s universities, will carry you into the liveliest city experience.
On the contrary, if you prefer tranquility, you’ll be able to take nice walks among the green slopes at the foot of Mount Vitosha in Boyana district.
