Bologna Airport announces that yesterday, 13 May, the airport interrupted commercial aviation operations for around a couple of hours, following a suspected alarm during security checks, which later proved to be inconsistent. Following this partial interruption of activity, 12 flights were cancelled and 12 flights were instead rerouted to other airports. The Marconi activities therefore resumed at 5.00 pm.
As is customary in similar situations, the appropriate detailed reconstructions will be carried out in collaboration with all the Authorities, with a view to continuous improvement of the processes, without prejudice to the priority of the security of airport operations.
Bologna Airport specifies, however, that no weapon was actually detected in passengers' hand luggage and that the security of airport operations has never been compromised in any way.
Lastly, given the start - today - of the Enac procedure in relation to the event, Bologna Airport, as always, confirms its fullest availability to provide any useful and detailed information in relation to what happened.
